THE ALBERTA ROOM
Built in 2020, this 920 square foot cabin is located at Lac Ste Anne.
The front of the cabin features an enclosed room fondly referred to as “The Alberta Room” and is used to hold large dinners with family and friends. It is also the go-to spot to spend the evening playing cards, board games or just visiting and listening to some good music.
The owners wanted the room to have a rustic cabin-like feel to create a warm, inviting space. To do this, the ceiling and walls were framed-in with 5 1/2 inch pine tongue and groove. The windows feature a wood sill and casing made using 5 1/2 inch, 2×6 pine.
All of the wood was sanded and then stained with a natural oil to showcase the subtle grains of the wood. Facing east, the large windows and a patio door allow the early morning sun to fill the room with gorgeous light. An overcast day just means those nice big windows bring a beautiful even light to the room. At night, a couple of mid-sized potlights give the room an even warmer feel.
All in all, the perfect room to spend a weekend in.
